New charges have been filed against a Colorado dentist, James Craig, accused of fatally poisoning his wife’s protein shakes. The new allegations include solicitation to commit first-degree murder against a detective involved in the case, as well as solicitation to commit perjury. Craig’s previous lawyer withdrew from the case just before the new charges were filed. Craig has been accused of dosing his wife’s drinks with cyanide and tetrahydrozoline, resulting in her death in March 2023. He has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and has been in jail twice with the man he allegedly tried to persuade to murder the detective. Authorities have pointed to Craig’s internet search history and online purchases, including ordering potassium cyanide weeks before his wife’s death. Craig’s former business partner, who learned of the cyanide purchase, alerted authorities, leading to the investigation. Despite the evidence against him, Craig’s defense lawyer has claimed there is no direct evidence linking him to his wife’s poisoning. Jury selection for Craig’s trial has been indefinitely postponed following the withdrawal of his lawyer.
