Female Soccer Team Travels to Sacred Heart for Mid-Week Game on Wednesday


The University of Vermont Catamounts women’s soccer team is preparing for their upcoming match against Sacred Heart on Sep. 11. Senior midfielder Bailey Ayer has been recognized for her outstanding performance, earning a spot on the Topdrawersoccer.com Team of the Week. Ayer has scored seven goals in seven games, ranking fifth nationally and leading the America East conference in goals scored.

The Catamounts have shown a strong team effort with multiple goal scorers and key players contributing to their success. Vermont has outscored opponents 14-8 this season and leads the conference in average goals per match.

On the other side, Sacred Heart is coming off a tough start to the season with a 0-4-1 record. They are led by first-year midfielder Rylee McGee and sophomore forward Lyndsey Laperle. Despite the challenges, Sacred Heart returns talented players from last season and is looking to turn their season around.

Vermont holds a perfect 7-0-0 record against Sacred Heart, including a victory in their last meeting. The Catamounts will look to continue their winning streak in this upcoming match.

In other news, the University of Vermont Athletics department has announced a partnership with Nike and BSN Sports to make sport-specific gear available for fans to purchase. The women’s soccer sport-specific store will be open until Sep. 16, allowing fans to support the team while purchasing quality athletic apparel.
