Vermont Man Charged After Crashing into New Hampshire State Trooper
SUTTON, NH – A Vermont man faces multiple charges following a crash involving a New Hampshire State Trooper on Thursday morning. At approximately 10:11 a.m., the incident occurred on I-89 southbound while the trooper was assisting a driver who had gone off the road.
According to the New Hampshire State Police, the trooper was in the breakdown lane when a 2009 black Honda Accord lost control on the snowy road and collided with the rear of the police cruiser. The impact was severe enough to propel the Accord into a pickup truck belonging to a fire chief who had arrived on the scene to aid the initial crash.
Authorities identified the driver of the Honda as 22-year-old Daniel Poroj from Shelburne, Vermont. Following the incident, Poroj was issued a summons to appear in Hillsborough District Court on March 18, 2025. He faces several charges, including operating without a valid license, negligent driving, operating an unregistered vehicle, failure to comply with duties when approaching a highway emergency, and speeding too fast for existing road conditions.
Police are reminding motorists of the importance of exercising caution, especially during adverse weather conditions. This incident underscores the critical risks faced by emergency responders on the road and the need for drivers to remain vigilant when approaching scenes of accidents or roadside assistance.
No injuries have been reported from the incident, but authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Further details will be available as the case progresses through the legal system.
