Connecticut’s congressional delegation, including Democratic Reps. Jim Himes, Jahana Hayes, Joe Courtney, John Larson, and Rosa DeLauro, as well as Sen. Chris Murphy, were all targeted by bomb threats on Thanksgiving Day. Police did not find any bombs or explosive materials at their homes. The FBI is working on the investigation with local authorities. The U.S. Capitol Police and Connecticut State Police have not commented on the incidents. Law enforcement agencies are working together to trace the emails used to send the threats, but no charges have been filed yet. This incident follows a trend of increasing threats to members of Congress, with over 8,000 incidents investigated by the Capitol Police in 2023. The threats to lawmakers also come after bomb and “swatting” threats were made against several of President-elect Donald Trump’s planned administration officials earlier in the week. Law enforcement agencies are taking these threats seriously and are working to ensure the safety of lawmakers and their communities.
