Vermont Catamounts Dominate Plattsburgh State with 23-Point Victory
Burlington, VT – In a commanding performance, the Vermont men’s basketball team triumphed over Plattsburgh State with a decisive score of 78-55, showcasing their depth and skill at Patrick Gym on Saturday. Noah Barnett made a significant impact in his first start, leading the Catamounts with 15 points.
Early in the game, Vermont established control, initially taking a slim lead with contributions from Sam Alamutu and Ileri Ayo-Faleye, who both hit key three-pointers. The team entered the bonus midway through the first half, allowing them to capitalize from the free-throw line. The Catamounts ended the first half on a high note, with Barnett scoring two powerful dunks, giving Vermont a 33-24 lead at halftime.
The second half featured Vermont’s robust defense, highlighted by Ayo-Faleye’s blocks and a scoring surge from Shy Odom, who recorded four consecutive shots to extend the lead. With a five-minute mark approaching, the Catamounts maintained a comfortable 61-52 lead, ultimately sealing their victory with a strong finish.
In addition to Barnett, Vermont had four players reach double figures in scoring: Odom (12), Gavin Perryman (11), and Ayo-Faleye (11). The Catamounts also dominated the boards, outrebounding Plattsburgh State 37-29 and showcasing impressive bench depth with 31 points from substitutes.
