UMD Women’s Hockey Welcomes Vermont: A Festive Weekend Ahead
DULUTH, MN – The No. 4 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team is set to host the University of Vermont for an exciting two-game series this weekend at AMSOIL Arena. With $1.00 tickets available at the gate, fans can enjoy the action, starting Friday at 6 p.m. and continuing Saturday at 3 p.m.
In an exciting announcement earlier this week, three Bulldogs—sophomore goaltender Eve Gascon, junior defenseman Tova Henderson, and freshman forward Caitlin Kraemer—were named to Canada’s National Women’s Development Team for the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour scheduled in Finland from December 11-15. Gascon and Kraemer both previously represented Canada in a series against the U.S., with Kraemer being part of the gold-winning U18 team earlier this year.
Highlighting UMD’s recent performance, senior forward Olivia Wallin achieved a milestone by scoring a hat trick last Friday, reaching her 100th career point in a thrilling 8-1 victory over Bemidji State. Wallin’s achievement marks her as the fourth Bulldog transfer to surpass the century mark.
Meanwhile, graduate forward Clara Van Wieren is right on the cusp of 100 points, sitting at 99. Should she achieve this milestone, UMD will have its first trio of players with 100 or more points since last season.
The Bulldogs boast a 15-game winning streak against the Beavers and are looking to maintain their strong form against Vermont, having previously defeated them in their only matchup back in 2017. UMD enters this weekend with a record of 5-0-1 against teams not ranked in the top 10, showcasing their dominance on home ice.
Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Bulldogs as they aim for a successful series this holiday weekend.
