Costco recalls organic eggs due to salmonella worries

Handsome Brook Farms, a New York-based company, is recalling 10,800 retail units of organic, pasture-raised eggs sold under Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand due to possible salmonella contamination. The affected eggs were sold in 25 Costco stores in five Southern states, with a Julian code of 327 and a “use by” date of Jan. 6, 2025. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that eggs not intended for stores were packaged and distributed in retail packaging. There have been no reported illnesses related to the recalled eggs so far. Handsome Brook Farms is implementing additional supply chain controls and retraining to prevent similar incidents in the future. Consumers who purchased the affected eggs should stop consuming them and return them to their local Costco store for a full refund or dispose of them. The recall is being done in cooperation with the FDA to ensure consumer safety.
