UVM Women’s Basketball Takes on Idaho State and Rice in Cancun Challenge
Burlington, Vt. – The University of Vermont’s women’s basketball team is set to compete in the Cancun Challenge, with their first match against Idaho State on Thursday, November 28, at 4:00 p.m. ET. Following this matchup, the Catamounts will face the Rice Owls on Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
Fans can tune in to the live action via FloHoops, while the Vermont Sports Network provides free radio coverage on WVMT, airing on 96.3 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 620 AM in the surrounding regions. Listeners can also access the broadcast through the Varsity Network App, with Ryan Zimmerman calling the games.
After a tough showing at the Alaska Shootout, where Vermont dropped both games—losing to North Dakota State 58-50 and Alaska Anchorage 68-52—key player Anna Olson emerged with standout performances, scoring 13 and 18 points respectively. Olson is currently the leading scorer for the Catamounts, averaging 15.7 points per game and sitting second in the America East in field goal percentage at 59.7%.
Idaho State enters the tournament with a 2-4 record, led by Halle Wright, who averages 11.5 points per game. Meanwhile, Rice boasts a 4-2 record and has won their last five games, with Dominique Ennis scoring an average of 11.8 points.
