A federal judge has denied Rudy Giuliani’s request to postpone court proceedings regarding the handover of his assets to former Georgia election workers he defamed. The Judge rejected the request for a delay so Giuliani could attend Donald Trump’s inauguration. During a hearing in Manhattan, Giuliani claimed he could not pay his bills because his assets were tied up due to the defamation judgment against him. He has been accused of dragging his feet on surrendering his belongings to the women. Giuliani has handed over some items, like a vintage Mercedes, but not its title. The trial, set to take place shortly before Trump’s inauguration, will focus on whether he must surrender his condo in Palm Beach, Florida, and his World Series rings. Giuliani is appealing the asset turnover order and the defamation verdict and continues to falsely accuse the women of election fraud. After the hearing, Giuliani criticized the judge, claiming he is a “serious left-wing Democrat” appointed by Trump. Giuliani reiterated that he does not regret defaming the women, but regrets the persecution he has faced. The women are seeking further penalties against Giuliani for his actions.
