John Baumann Awarded Business Executive of the Year

Vermont Business Magazine Honors John Baumann as 2024 Business Executive of the Year

The White River Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced John Baumann, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of DuBois & King, as the 2024 Business Executive of the Year. This prestigious recognition celebrates his remarkable leadership and significant contributions to the firm’s growth and stability. The ceremony is slated for early spring 2025.

Baumann’s long-standing relationship with DuBois & King, a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm based in Randolph, Vermont, began 43 years ago as a part-time employee during high school. After earning a Bachelor of Science in economics and business administration from Norwich University in 1989, he joined the firm full-time as a staff accountant. His rapid ascent within the company saw him promoted to controller within five years and eventually to CFO in 2008.

During his tenure, Baumann has provided exceptional leadership, particularly during the 2008 economic recession. Under his guidance, DuBois & King managed to avoid layoffs while fulfilling its obligations to creditors, ensuring job security for all employees. Even as companies across the nation faced significant challenges, the firm has thrived, expanding from 64 employees to over 160 and growing its revenue by more than 400% since 2008.

In addition to his role as CFO, Baumann became Vice Chair of the Board of Directors in 2016, focusing on reducing the firm’s debt and promoting sustainable growth. His ethical leadership and financial acumen have fortified DuBois & King’s position in the market and solidified its locally-owned status. A lifelong resident of Randolph, Baumann resides there with his wife, Barbara.
