Hammond Cove and West Mountain Shooting Ranges to Close for Winter

Vermont Business Magazine – The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department has announced the seasonal closure of the Hammond Cove public shooting range in Hartland and the West Mountain Wildlife Management Area shooting range in Ferdinand, effective December 14.

Alison Thomas, the department’s director of outreach, expressed appreciation for the community’s support of these facilities, which play a vital role in enhancing hunter skills and promoting safe firearm practices. “We want to thank all of the people who have supported the operation of the two ranges in Windsor and Essex Counties,” she stated. Thomas emphasized that the ranges are crucial for developing responsible hunting practices among the community.

Both ranges will remain closed during the winter months and are scheduled to reopen in the spring, allowing outdoor enthusiasts to resume their training and enjoyment of shooting sports.
