Swimming and Diving Teams Travel to New York for Dual Meets This Weekend

The University of Vermont’s defending America East Champion swimming team is set to continue their season with back-to-back meets in New York this weekend. The Catamounts will first face off against Army and Central Connecticut State at West Point on Friday, followed by a meet against Marist in Poughkeepsie on Saturday.

In their season opener against Northeastern, Natalie Schlemmer and Jackie House stood out for Vermont by each winning two events. Schlemmer took first in the 200 Free and 100 Breast, while House won the 100 Free and 500 Free.

The upcoming competition includes Army, who finished second in the Patriot League Championships last season, CCSU, the back-to-back NEC champions, and Marist, who finished third in the MAAC Championships and features standout swimmer April Avila.

Adding to the excitement of the meets, the Catamounts will face off against an alumnae, Kelly Lennon ’18, who is now the Associate Head Coach for the Army women’s program. Lennon, a former standout swimmer at Vermont, was a three-time America East All-Conference honoree and was named the America East nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year in 2018.
