Catamounts Gear Up for Hockey East Action Against New Hampshire and Maine
Burlington, Vt. – The Vermont Catamounts are set to resume Hockey East play after their final home non-conference matchup, with a double-header at Gutterson Fieldhouse this weekend. They will face the New Hampshire Wildcats on Friday, November 22, and the Maine Black Bears on Sunday, November 24.
Friday’s matchup against UNH, kicking off at 6 p.m., serves as the Can for Coffee Food Drive, where fans donating cans of food will receive a box of Keurig K-Cup Pods and a chance to win a coffee brewer. Sunday’s game, scheduled for 2 p.m., is the annual Youth Day presented by Healthy Living, featuring youth-friendly activities such as a bounce house and face painting from 1 p.m.
The Catamounts are looking to build on their recent performances against UNH, having split previous meetings this season with a victory and an overtime loss. They enter the contest with an impressive five-game unbeaten streak at home against the Wildcats. Meanwhile, Vermont faces Maine after also splitting their earlier matchups, emphasizing their resilience following a recent 2-1 win.
Statistically, Vermont’s goaltender Jane Gervais leads Hockey East with a total of 296 saves this season. The Catamounts also excel in faceoffs, ranking among the top in the nation. Lara Beecher tops the squad with eight points this season, while Evelyne Blais-Savoie continues to lead in goals scored.
UNH, with a record of 8-5-1, is coming off a strong run, while Maine struggles at 2-12-0, facing a tough path as they prepare to face a formidable Vermont lineup.
