Locke Dominates at New England Championships

William Locke led the Vermont men’s cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the New England championships with 150 points. Locke finished 12th with a personal best time of 24:55.1, while Bennett Harrison-Michaels was the team’s second scorer, finishing 26th with a personal best of 25:16.9. Elliot Hawley, Jameson Sparks, and Tommy Wolfe also contributed to the team’s score, finishing in 29th, 42nd, and 45th place, respectively.

Associate head coach Joe Gingras praised Locke for his performance and highlighted the team’s overall strong performance, despite some athletes being under the weather. Gingras noted that the meet served as a good practice for the upcoming America East competition in three weeks, emphasizing the need for improvement to achieve a top-three finish.

The Catamounts will next compete in the Fall Foliage Invitational on October 20th. Fans can stay updated on the Vermont Cross Country program by following @UVMtrackxc on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, as well as visiting the official athletics website, UVMathletics.com.
