The UAB men’s basketball team suffered a 67-62 loss to Vermont in their home opener, despite a standout performance by Yaxel Lendeborg who recorded 22 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks. The Blazers struggled with their three-point shooting, going 0-for-10 while Vermont capitalized with 10 made threes.
After falling behind early in the game, UAB mounted a second-half comeback led by Lendeborg, who scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half. Despite tying the game multiple times, the Blazers were unable to secure the lead as Vermont consistently hit crucial shots to maintain their advantage.
This marked the first time since 2013 that UAB failed to make a three-point field goal in a game. Additionally, they recorded only three assists, the fewest in several years. Lendeborg’s performance included his 20th double-double as a Blazer and his six games with at least 20 points and 15 rebounds.
Looking ahead, the Blazers will face Southern Miss on Thursday night at Bartow Arena. Season tickets for the 2024-25 UAB men’s basketball season are available starting at $110, and group rates and fan experience packages are also offered for fans looking to attend home games at Bartow Arena. Blazer Boosters membership is encouraged to support UAB student-athletes as they compete in the American Athletic Conference.
