Vermont Women’s Basketball Kicks Off Great Alaska Shootout Against North Dakota State
BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont Catamounts women’s basketball team is set to begin their journey in the Great Alaska Shootout on Friday, November 22, with a matchup against North Dakota State. The game is scheduled to tip off at 9:15 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on YouTube. Fans can also tune in for a free radio broadcast on the Vermont Sports Network via WVMT at 96.3 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 620 AM regionwide, featuring Ryan Zimmerman on the call.
Fresh off a convincing 61-37 victory over Dartmouth, the Catamounts aim to build momentum in Alaska. Anna Olson led the team in scoring with 16 points in the last game, with Bella Vito contributing 10 points and nine rebounds. Olson, who has been a standout player this season, is currently averaging 15.8 points per game and leads the America East Conference in field goal percentage at 63.5%.
This season, Vermont faces a challenging six-game, 21-day road trip, traveling over 9,600 miles – one of only 25 teams in the NCAA with such an extensive schedule. The Catamounts have a 2-5 record against the conferences represented in the tournament, having previously secured wins against North Dakota and James Madison.
On the other side, North Dakota State is coming off a mixed start to the season with one win and one loss. The Bison are led by Avery Koenen, who averages 13 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. With both teams poised to make their mark in the tournament, an exciting clash is anticipated.
