Shelburne Museum’s Winter Lights Festival Shines Brighter with New Performance Series
SHELBURNE, Vt. — Shelburne Museum’s annual Winter Lights festival returns this holiday season from November 21 to January 5, now enhanced with an exciting new performance series set to make weekends even more festive. Leslie Wright, marketing spokeswoman for the museum, notes that “weekends are popular anyway, but this is going to make them even more popular,” highlighting the initiative’s potential to attract visitors.
The festival will showcase local talent on select evenings, featuring an array of performances from harpist Marie Hamilton, pianist Owen Leavy, a cappella groups from the University of Vermont and Middlebury College, and the Randall Pierce Jazz Trio. Integral to this year’s offerings, the Lyric Theatre Company will provide vocal ensembles for four nights, emphasizing the synergy between two esteemed non-profit arts organizations.
In addition to musical acts, flow artists from the Burlington Burn Club will spin LED lights instead of flames, adding a unique visual spectacle to the event. Attendees can also look forward to innovative outdoor displays that include QR codes linking to videos, bringing the museum’s light installations to life.
Wright explains that the expanded program aims to broaden Winter Lights’ reach as a tourist destination, especially during the transition between foliage and ski season, with hopes to exceed last year’s attendance of 50,000 visitors.
Tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $10 for children when purchased in advance, with additional themed events like an ice bar night for patrons 21 and over. This blend of art, music, and holiday cheer promises to create a joyous atmosphere, making Winter Lights a must-visit attraction this season.
