Gas Prices Remain Stable in Vermont Amid National Trends
Vermont’s average gasoline price remains steady at $3.09 per gallon, unchanged from last week but down 6 cents compared to last month and significantly lower by 37 cents from this time last year, according to AAA. The state’s lowest price, found in Bennington and Rutland counties, is $2.75 per gallon, contrasting with a peak of $3.29 in Grand Isle, Lamoille, and Windsor counties—a notable 54 cent difference.
In Burlington, average prices dipped slightly by 2.8 cents to $3.15 per gallon this week. This reflects an 8.8-cent decrease from a month ago and a 39-cent drop from the previous year. GasBuddy’s survey indicates Burlington’s cheapest station offered fuel at $3.03 per gallon, while the most expensive was $3.19—a more modest 16 cent spread.
Nationally, gasoline prices have also experienced a minor decline, averaging $3.06 per gallon, down 2 cents from last week. Compared to a month ago, they are 11 cents cheaper, and 23 cents lower than last year. Diesel prices have edged down to $3.516 per gallon, a decrease of 0.4 cents.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted, "Although several states experienced price hikes last week, the national average has seen little meaningful change with many states stabilizing or slowly declining." He added that the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday could see prices dip below $3 per gallon in 28 states already tracking below this threshold.
