The Vermont field hockey team secured a convincing 5-0 victory over Stonehill on Sunday afternoon. The Catamounts got off to a strong start, scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes of the game. Maddie Priestly, Marie Dijkstra, and Lotte Kanters all found the back of the net early on. Ellie Reed and Meg Weyer also contributed to the scoring, with Priestly scoring her second goal of the game in the 49th minute.
Goalkeeper Merle Vaandrager had an impressive game, making six saves and earning her first career shutout. Reed and Priestly both had standout performances, recording their first multi-point games of their careers. Dijkstra also had a strong game, recording her second multi-point game of the season.
Head coach Kate Pfeifer praised her team’s response after a tough loss on Friday, highlighting the team’s readiness to bounce back and put goals on the board. The win was a valuable team effort, with multiple players stepping up and contributing to the victory.
The Catamounts will look to build on this momentum as they prepare to take on Dartmouth next Sunday.
