Early Morning Fire Devastates Berkshire Home
Berkshire, Vermont — An overnight house fire has left a family in distress after their home was deemed a "total loss." Multiple fire departments were called to the scene on West Berkshire Road around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Emergency responders from at least five fire departments, including Berkshire, Enosburg, Richford, Franklin, and Sheldon, fought the blaze, which was reported extinguished by 5 a.m. However, significant damage was already apparent, with the garage and a vehicle in the driveway completely destroyed.
Fortunately, the family was able to evacuate safely before the flames spread throughout the house. Although the specific cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials suspect that it originated in the garage area. A fire investigation team is expected to arrive later today to ascertain the cause and details surrounding the incident.
As the community grapples with the loss, authorities have assured that updates will be shared as they become available. The incident underscores the importance of fire safety measures in homes, especially during the colder months when heating devices are heavily relied upon.
This developing story will continue to be updated with more information as it emerges. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report any safety concerns to local fire authorities.
