Gov. Phil Scott Reshapes Cabinet with New Appointments
Vermont Governor Phil Scott, newly re-elected for his fifth term, is making significant changes to his extended cabinet with the appointment of four key officials. Sarah Clark, a seasoned state worker, has been appointed as the secretary of the Agency of Administration, overseeing the state’s various agencies and departments. Clark, who served as interim secretary since May, has two decades of state government experience, including roles as deputy fiscal officer and chief financial officer for the Agency of Human Services.
In a press release, Scott expressed confidence in Clark’s capabilities, emphasizing her extensive fiscal management expertise and leadership in complex governmental operations. "We have a lot of work ahead of us, and her experience and poise will serve us well," he stated.
Additionally, Scott announced the following appointments: Kristin McClure of South Burlington as deputy secretary of the Agency of Human Services, where she has already overseen critical housing efforts for the state’s homeless population. Andrew Collier from Westford has been appointed as commissioner for the Department of Motor Vehicles, transitioning from his previous role at the Department of Liquor and Lottery. Lastly, Angela Smith-Dieng of Burlington will serve as deputy commissioner of the Department of Disabilities, Aging, and Independent Living, having directed its Adult Services Division since 2019.
Scott highlighted the importance of these appointments, stating, "I have always worked to surround myself with a strong team because that is critical to success and doing what is best for Vermonters." Each of these officials brings valuable experience and dedication to their roles, promising to enhance governance in the state.
