Studio Berlin’s Ü6 Renewal project marks a significant upgrade for the company, with the replacement of its long-standing Ü6 HDTV outside broadcast truck with a modern, permanently installed control room at its Hamburg facility. This new control room is built around cutting-edge IP standards and AoIP solutions from Lawo, integrated with a Ravenna network.
The central features of the new control room include two Lawo mc²36 audio mixing consoles with integrated Lawo A__UHD Core technology, offering immense processing power in a compact setup. Additionally, three Lawo A__mic8 stageboxes have been integrated via Ravenna, allowing for flexible, lossless signal distribution.
The implementation of this new technology has greatly enhanced production flexibility for Studio Berlin. With two identical control rooms now operational in Hamburg, the company can handle any production independently of the studio, thanks to the Ravenna network that enables quick and flexible routing of signals between control rooms.
Matthias Hitz, technical director at Studio Berlin’s Hamburg location, expressed excitement about the future prospects enabled by this upgrade, stating that Lawo’s technology provides the flexibility and IP-based solutions needed to adapt efficiently to upcoming media production developments. The partnership between Studio Berlin and Lawo is set to continue, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of innovation in the industry.
