Sims Admits Defeat in Election

Katherine Sims officially conceded the election for State Senate in Vermont’s Orleans District to Sam Douglass. In an email to her followers, Sims expressed gratitude for the support received during the campaign and stated her commitment to continue building community and fighting for a Vermont where everyone can thrive. The concession came after 11 of the 20 towns were reporting Douglass in the lead by about 1,200 votes. Despite the loss, Sims remains hopeful for the future and thanked her supporters for their efforts in the positive and spirited campaign. Sims also acknowledged the loss of her house seat in the Orleans 4 district, which she held for the past two years. Douglass expressed gratitude for the confidence and faith that voters had in him during the election. Sims ran for State Senate to be a strong voice for rural values in the Statehouse and although the campaign fell short, she congratulated Douglass on his victory and wished him the best. Sims’ message to her supporters was one of gratitude and determination, as she pledged to continue working towards a Vermont where everyone can thrive.
