A major winter storm was also a possibility for the mid-Atlantic and southern New England regions. Looking ahead to Thanksgiving week, forecasts predicted cooler temperatures, cold rain, and high-elevation snow on the East Coast. Despite the potential weather disruptions, a record number of travelers and shoppers are expected during the holiday week. American Airlines and the National Retail Foundation both anticipate setting new records for passengers and shoppers, respectively. While it remains uncertain how the weather systems will impact travel and spending, preparations are being made to handle the anticipated increase in holiday activities.
