Vermont Men’s Basketball Season Home Opener Set for November 19
BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont Men’s Basketball team is gearing up for its highly anticipated home opener against the Buffalo Bulls on November 19. The game will take place at Patrick Gymnasium, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
Presented by PC Construction, the first 150 fans in attendance will receive a co-branded stainless steel cup. Additionally, fans can participate in a raffle for UVM tickets and merchandise at the PC Construction table located in the gym lobby.
Fans can catch the action live on ESPN+, featuring commentators Rob Ryan and Bernie Cieplicki. A radio broadcast will also be available for free via the Vermont Sports Network, with Brian McLaughlin providing updates on the airwaves of 97.1 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 960 AM across the region. Listeners can also access the broadcast through the Varsity Network App.
The Catamounts have been impressive this season, with TJ Long recently reaching his 1000th career point. Averaging 13.2 points per game, he is part of a squad that ranks 14th nationally in limiting opponent assists. Star player Ileri Ayo-Faleye averages 2.25 blocks per game, while first-year guard Sean Blake leads the team with 2.5 assists per game. Vermont is favored this season, having topped the America East Preseason Poll for the eighth time in nine years, receiving an impressive eight out of nine first-place votes.
On the other side, the Buffalo Bulls, who suffered a recent defeat to Bryant, are led by second-year Head Coach George Halcovage III. Junior guard Ryan Sabol is a standout player for the Bulls, averaging 18.5 points per game. Despite a challenging season last year, Buffalo aims to redeem themselves against Vermont. The last matchup between the two teams occurred in 2015, with the Bulls emerging victorious.
