Hofstra University Earns No. 7 National Seed in NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship
INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 18, 2024 – Hofstra University’s men’s soccer team has made history by securing a No. 7 national seed—their highest ever—in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship. Announced Monday, the Pride received a first-round bye and will host the winner of the Vermont versus Iona match in the second round on Sunday, November 24, at 5 p.m.
This season, Hofstra (14-4-2) captured the CAA Men’s Soccer Championship, becoming the first team to win four consecutive titles after a narrow 1-0 victory over UNCW last Saturday. Laurie Goddard shined, being named the championship’s Most Outstanding Player after scoring three crucial goals, contributing significantly to the Pride’s eighth CAA title—a record shared with William & Mary and James Madison for the most in CAA men’s soccer history.
This year marks Hofstra’s ninth appearance in the NCAA tournament and their fifth in the last decade. The Pride has successfully advanced to the third round in two of the last three seasons. Notably, Hofstra received a national seed and a first-round bye for the second consecutive year, showcasing their consistent growth and competitiveness in the league.
Hofstra’s success reflects a strong program, garnering substantial support and recognition within college soccer. As they prepare for their next match, fans can follow updates and engage with the team through the CAA’s social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
The Pride, underlining their prowess in college soccer, look to build on their championship success as they aim for a deeper run in the tournament.
