Burglars broke into the grounds of Britain’s royal Windsor Castle in October, stealing two vehicles belonging to the Crown Estate. The estate is the primary residence of Prince William, Princess Kate, and their family. The thieves entered a farm building and made off with a black Izuzu pickup and a red quad bike before fleeing towards a nearby town. Thames Valley Police are investigating the incident, with no arrests made yet. The Sun newspaper first reported the burglary, while Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have not commented. Windsor has experienced other security breaches, including a man armed with a crossbow climbing a fence at Windsor Castle on Christmas Day in 2021, claiming he wanted to kill Queen Elizabeth II. He was sentenced to nine years in prison for treason, possession of an offensive weapon, and making threats to kill. This incident adds to the security concerns surrounding the royal residences in the UK.
