UMass Lowell Hockey Sweeps Vermont, Continues Winning Streak
UMass Lowell’s hockey team is celebrating after a successful weekend, sweeping Vermont with a 3-0 victory on Saturday night. The River Hawks displayed a commanding performance at Gutterson Fieldhouse, where goaltender Henry Welsch earned a shutout, recording 20 saves to help maintain their strong momentum.
The victory marks UMass Lowell’s impressive 5-0 record on the road and brings their overall season tally to 8-2, with a 4-1 record in Hockey East. Following this weekend’s success, the River Hawks are now ranked 15th in the USCHO.com poll and are likely to climb higher after this formidable showing against the Catamounts, having outscored them a combined 8-2 over the series.
In the game, Matt Crasa opened the scoring with his second goal of the season, followed by contributions from Scout Truman, who netted his fifth, and Dillan Bentley, who scored his fourth. Both Bentley and Crasa were also credited with assists, contributing significantly to the team’s offensive effort. Libor Nemec, Jak Vaarwerk, and TJ Schweighardt also chipped in with assists, showcasing the team’s collaborative play.
