Montpelier Police Investigate Suspected Double Homicide
MONTPELIER, Vt. — Authorities are currently investigating a suspected double homicide at a residence on Gallison Hill Road in Montpelier. The Montpelier Police Department reported the incident as a ‘major incident’ on Friday morning after responding to a physical altercation call at approximately 11:30 a.m. Two victims were found deceased at the scene.
One male suspect has been detained, and police confirmed that all individuals involved have been accounted for, alleviating any immediate threat to the public. The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the Vermont State Police, and a search warrant for the residence has been obtained.
Detective Major Dan Trudeau of the Vermont State Police noted that all parties involved, including the victims and the detained suspect, resided together in the home. However, the nature of their relationship remains unconfirmed, and authorities are exploring the possibility of a domestic dispute. Notably, Montpelier Police have responded to the residence multiple times in the past.
Remarkably, the detained individual was the one who initially contacted law enforcement to report the deaths. Autopsies are planned to determine the causes and manners of death, while the investigation is still in its preliminary stages.
The police department has advised the public to steer clear of the area as investigators continue their work throughout the evening. Updates will follow as this is an active investigation and a developing story. NBC5 has dispatched a crew to the scene for further coverage.
