The University of Vermont women’s soccer team secured a 3-0 victory over UAlbany on Thursday night, with goals from Bailey Ayer and Jill Brody. Kylee Carafoli also earned her first shutout of the season. Head Coach Kristi Huizenga praised the team’s performance, highlighting the strong attacking presence and defensive efforts that led to the victory. The Catamounts took an early lead with goals from Brody and Ayer in the 3rd and 13th minutes, respectively. Ayer scored her second goal of the game in the 66th minute, securing the win for Vermont. Ayer, Brody, and Sydney Remington stood out with strong performances, while Carafoli made four saves to secure the shutout.
The Catamounts outshot UAlbany 23-7 and earned 10 corner kicks compared to the Great Danes’ three. Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to the Vermont Children’s Trust Foundation as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative. Vermont Federal Credit Union will also contribute $25 to Vermont Works For Women, a non-profit benefiting women in the local community, for every women’s team win in Catamount Country.
The team now looks ahead to their upcoming game against Binghamton at Virtue Field for their home finale, which will also be Senior Day presented by UVM Health Advantage.
