Apple’s M1 MacBook Pro now incorporates quantum dot display technology seen in QLED TVs

Apple’s new M4 MacBook Pro lineup has been making waves with its improved displays. The Liquid Retina XDR displays can reach up to 1,000 nits of brightness for outdoor viewing of SDR content, while also being able to go as low as 1 nit for maximum comfort in dark environments. Additionally, the new nano-texture option provides enhanced color vibrancy.

What Apple didn’t mention in its announcement is that the latest MacBook Pros now feature quantum display technology, offering more vibrancy and improved color accuracy. While previously avoided due to the toxic cadmium content in quantum dot film, Apple has now opted for the toxic-free and less expensive red KSF phosphor film for its displays.

With the removal of the cadmium requirement, there are now cadmium-free quantum dot options available that rival Apple’s KSF film in color accuracy. The new displays, unofficially dubbed “Liquid Retina QXDR,” can support up to one billion colors, making them a top choice for consumers looking for a high-quality display.

As Black Friday approaches, consumers can expect to find some great deals on the M4 MacBook Pro models. With a killer display and advanced technology, the latest MacBook Pros offer even more value for the features they provide.
