Press Release: Resolution Possible in Long-Running Vermont Murder Case
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A significant development has emerged in the years-long murder case involving Angela Auclair, who is accused of killing her husband, David Auclair, in July 2019. A second plea deal is under consideration, potentially bringing closure to a case that has captivated local attention.
Angela Auclair allegedly conspired with her son, Kory George, to lure David Auclair to a trailhead in Hinesburg, where he was shot multiple times. Kory George has already faced sentencing on federal charges connected to the murder and was expected to testify that his mother fired the fatal shots, although this trial never materialized.
After nearly five years in custody, Auclair is presented with a plea agreement that would offer her 15 years to life in prison, accounting for time already served. This marks her second opportunity for a plea deal, the first of which fell through earlier this year.
Family members of David Auclair expressed deep frustration in court, particularly his sister, Melisa Semprebon, who criticized the proposed agreement. She lamented, “She was offered this deal last February and we weren’t happy about it then. She’s been playing havoc with our lives for this entire time, and we want justice. This doesn’t seem like it’s enough.”
Judge John Pacht indicated that the current plea agreement seems likely to proceed, with a potential resolution before Christmas. However, if an agreement is not reached, the case could be set for trial early next year, prolonging the legal saga that has deeply affected both the victim’s family and the community at large.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
