FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in Vermont Set to Close as Aid Application Period Nears End
Vermont residents seeking federal disaster assistance are reminded that the state’s Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will be closing shortly, coinciding with the upcoming deadline for aid applications. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that both centers, located at Hinesburg Town Hall and Lyndonville Public Safety Facility, will shut their doors on Saturday, November 23, just two days before the application window closes on Monday, November 25.
Governor Phil Scott is urging residents affected by the severe storms that hit the state in July 2024 to expedite their requests for assistance. He reminded Vermonters that applications must be submitted separately for each storm-related incident. With the clock ticking down, now is the critical time for those still in need of aid to initiate their applications.
Residents can apply for assistance or check the status of their applications via FEMA’s website at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling their dedicated number at 1-800-621-3362.
The closure of the DRCs marks a significant step in the recovery process for those who experienced damage during the storms. Vermonters are encouraged to take action before the final deadline to ensure they receive the necessary support to rebuild and recover.
For more information on disaster assistance or the closing of the recovery centers, please visit the FEMA website or contact local government officials.
