Vermont Men’s Soccer Team Eyes Outright America East Title
The University of Vermont men’s soccer team is gearing up for their final regular season match against Binghamton on Tuesday night, where a win could secure their first outright America East Regular Season title since 2017. With a record of 9-2-4, the Catamounts are currently ranked No. 23 nationally and are in a strong position heading into the match.
Binghamton, with a record of 8-6-3, is looking to secure their spot in the America East Tournament and currently sits in sixth place with seven points. However, they will face a tough challenge against Vermont, who are on a nine-game unbeaten streak against the Bearcats.
Vermont’s success this season can be attributed to their strong offense, led by players like Sydney Wathuta who leads the team and America East with 10 assists. The Catamounts have shown their ability to score late in games, with 12 goals scored in the 76th minute or later this season.
In terms of goalkeeping, Vermont’s tandem of Lou Liedtka and Niklas Herceg has been outstanding, with a collective save percentage of .824, which is fifth best in the NCAA.
