Barre, Vermont is getting ready for Halloween with elaborate decorations and displays by local residents. Jacob Normandy and his roommates have spent months creating a spooky vintage psych show in their front yard, complete with a skeleton-run snack shack and a haunted clown. Meanwhile, Ruth Weeks has covered her lawn with 117 jack-o-lanterns donated by neighbors to honor a friend’s Halloween wish. Both displays are part of Barre’s annual Halloween house decorating contest, with Normandy planning to keep his setup through Thanksgiving. Residents can also check out other decorating contests in Vermont and New York, including St. Armand, St. Albans, Plattsburgh, and South Burlington. The community is invited to explore these festive displays and get into the Halloween spirit.
