The University of Maine women’s ice hockey team is gearing up to host the University of Vermont this weekend at Alfond Arena for two Hockey East games. The games are set to take place on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2, with puck drop at 2:00 p.m. Both games will be streaming on ESPN+ with an international stream available via Hockey East/Stretch Internet.
Maine is coming off a weekend where they were swept by the #6 ranked Colgate Raiders, with scores of 8-3 and 4-1. Freshman goaltender Kiia Lahtinen made a total of 45 saves over the weekend, while freshman Stephanie Jacob leads the team in points after tallying 2 points.
A win for Maine would bring their record to 2-7-0, 2-3-0 in Hockey East, and be their first Friday win of the season. Maine and Vermont are currently tied for seventh place in the Hockey East standings.
Last season, Maine swept Vermont in all three contests, with scores of 3-2, 3-2, and 3-0. In the upcoming games, Maine will look to separate themselves from Vermont in the standings.
The Catamounts currently hold a record of 2-6-0, 1-3-0 in Hockey East, with junior forward Lara Beecher leading the team in points. Goaltender Jane Gervais has seen action in six games so far this season with a .899 save percentage and a 3.19 goals against average.
Looking ahead, Maine will continue their Hockey East play at home against Boston College on November 8 and 9 at Alfond Arena.
