The Vermont men’s basketball team started off their 2024-25 season with a thrilling 68-66 victory over Saint Anselm on Saturday. Despite trailing by seven points with 4:45 to play, the Catamounts mounted a comeback to secure the win. Sam Alamutu and TJ Hurley led the way for Vermont with 13 and 17 points respectively. Sean Blake also made an impact in his debut, scoring 13 points including the game-winning free throws. Josh Morrisette paced the Hawks with 27 points.
In a game that featured multiple lead changes, Vermont outrebounded Saint Anselm 42-28 and shot 48% from the field in the second half. With this win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to the Vermont Children’s Trust Foundation as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative.
The Catamounts will look to build on this victory as they face crosstown rival Saint Michael’s in their final preseason exhibition on October 30.
