University’s golf team had a tough start to the Skidmore Invitational tournament as severe weather conditions forced the event to be shortened. The team finished in 13th place out of the 19 competing teams. The tournament, hosted by Skidmore College, was held at the Saratoga National Golf Club in New York.
Middlebury’s top finisher was junior Reid Buzby, who shot a 77 in the first round before play was suspended due to lightning. Sophomore Peter Richards also had a solid performance with a round of 78. However, the team was unable to make up ground on the second day of the event as play was cancelled due to poor course conditions caused by heavy rain.
Despite the disappointing finish, Middlebury’s head coach was proud of the team’s effort and remains optimistic for the rest of the season. He praised the players for their determination and resilience in the face of challenging weather conditions.
