Israeli air forces have continued their bombardment of Lebanon for a fourth consecutive day, killing at least 29 people according to health authorities. The majority of the victims were Syrians in the town of Younine, while other attacks hit villages and towns in the country’s south. The Israeli military claimed to have killed the head of Hezbollah’s aerial unit in Beirut, but Hezbollah has not responded to the claim.
Hezbollah fired missiles at multiple locations in Israel, prompting international calls for a ceasefire. The US and France proposed a 21-day ceasefire, which Israel rejected, stating their focus is on striking Hezbollah until they achieve their objectives. This escalation in hostilities has caused over 90,000 people in Lebanon to flee their homes.
Israel has also carried out assassinations targeting Hezbollah’s military leadership, leading to fears of a potential ground assault on Lebanon. The killing of top Hezbollah commanders and the mass detonation of communication devices have increased tensions in the region.
As the violence continues to escalate, there are concerns about the impact on civilians and the possibility of a further deterioration of the situation. The international community is calling for a diplomatic solution to end the deadly conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
