The FBI boarded a vessel managed by the same company responsible for the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The Maersk Saltoro was visited by the FBI, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Criminal Investigation Division, and Coast Guard Investigative Services for law enforcement activities. The owner of the vessel, Grace Ocean Private Limited, and its operator, Synergy Marine Group, were contacted for comment, as well as the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland and the Coast Guard. The cargo ship Dali, owned and managed by the same companies as the Maersk Saltoro, struck a support pillar of the bridge on March 26, leading to its collapse and the deaths of six construction workers. The National Transportation Safety Board reported that the ship experienced power losses before the crash, leaving it unable to steer away from the bridge’s pier. The U.S. Justice Department filed a lawsuit accusing Grace Ocean Private Limited and Synergy Marine Group of negligence in dealing with electrical issues on the Dali.
