Russia accelerates evacuation of civilians in Kursk amid Ukraine conflict.

[ad_1]
Russia has begun evacuating tens of thousands of people from its Kursk region, which has been invaded by Ukrainian troops, prompting civilian casualties and regional power outages. Ukrainian forces were acknowledged to be fighting in Kursk by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in an effort to push the war into Russia’s territory. The regions of Bryansk and Belgorod have also been impacted by the conflict, with the possibility of further attacks on the Kursk nuclear power station raised by Russia’s nuclear agency. Belarus reinforced its border with Ukraine, citing drone violations, while Ukraine attacked a Russian gas platform in the Black Sea. Meanwhile, there were reports of casualties on both sides in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.
On the Ukrainian side, reports indicate that the incursion into Kursk may be helping to relieve pressure on other parts of the frontline where Russian troops were advancing. In response to an air attack on Kyiv, air defence systems repelled the strikes, with no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Zelenskiy also vowed to strengthen Ukrainian spiritual independence by potentially banning the Moscow-linked branch of the Orthodox church, which he accused of supporting the invasion. The conflict continues to escalate, impacting civilians and infrastructure on both sides.
