Simon Armitage Affirms his Positive Attitude Towards Birds: ‘I Won’t Say Anything Negative About Any Bird’ | Simon Armitage

[ad_1]
In a recent interview, renowned poet and writer Simon Armitage shared some fun facts and personal preferences. Armitage revealed that if he had a sandwich named after him, it would be a grilled cheese sandwich with Shropshire Red cheese and jalapeño peppers. He also expressed his dislike for the phrase “bus replacement service” and his love for all birds, including the misunderstood seagulls.

Armitage discussed his controversial opinion that abstract art is rubbish and reflected on the best piece of advice he’s received, which involved never wearing anything diagonal. He also talked about his current TV show binge, “House of the Dragon”, and a book he rereads often, Ted Hughes’ “Poetry in the Making”.

When asked if he would rather die at the bottom of the ocean or out in space, Armitage humorously responded that he hasn’t signed up for dying and would prefer to live forever if given the choice. He also joked about confusing David Bowie with Jesus as a child due to Bowie’s space-themed songs.

In a lighter moment, Armitage expressed his desire to have Cate Blanchett play him in a biopic about his life, with Emma Stone portraying the younger version of himself. As for the animal he most relates to, Armitage jokingly mentioned a fear of horses and a loyalty to birds, particularly swifts for their ability to stay airborne.
